Distribution. Western Atlantic – North Carolina, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil (from Amapá to Rio de Janeiro) (Melo 1996).

Ecological notes. On mud, sand, gravel, and stone bottoms. From shallow waters to 80 m (Melo 1996).
