Distribution. Western Atlantic – North Carolina, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyanas, Brazil (from Amapá to Rio Grande do Sul), Argentina, and Uruguay (Melo 1996).

Ecological notes. Rock, coral, calcareous algae, sand, and shell bottoms. From shallow waters to great depths (Melo 1996).
