Minyocerus angustus (Dana, 1852)
Material examined (N=1). 1f, 14/IX/2003, St. 0 6 (MZUESC #664).
Distribution. Western Atlantic – Central America, Venezuela, Surinam, and Brazil (from Pará to Santa Catarina) (Melo 1999).
Ecological notes. In shallow waters, on sandy bottoms and associated with the starfish Luidia senegalensis (Melo 1999) .
Previous records in Bahia. Veloso & Melo (1993), Almeida et al. (2007).
Remarks. M. angustus was included in the Brazilian Red List of threatened species as “vulnerable”, perhaps because its host, the starfish L. senegalensis, also figures in this list (Amaral 2005).
