Distribution. Western Atlantic – North Carolina, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Central America, Antilles, Surinam, and Brazil (Pará, Pernambuco, Bahia, and Rio de Janeiro) (Melo 1999). Santa Catarina (Rieger & Giraldi 1997).

Ecological notes. In intertidal zone, under rocks, also on sand, mud and calcareous algae bottoms, up to 55 m (Melo 1999).
