Distribution. Western Atlantic – from Massachusetts to North Carolina, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, and Brazil (from Amapá to Rio Grande do Sul) (Melo 1996).

Ecological notes. On mud and sand bottoms, often in Chaetopterus tubes. It occurs in areas influenced by river discharge. From shallow waters to 80 m (Coelho 1997b)
