DISTRIBUTION: E Brazil in S Bahia near Ilhéus.

COMMENTS: Treated as a species of Nelomys by Emmons and Feer (1990:218), but as Isothrix pictus by Patton and Emmons (1985:12) and Corbet and Hill (1991:207).
