Type locality. Described from coasts of Barberia (Tunisia).

Remarks. Name proposed for Trochus umbilicaris var. patula Monterosato, 1875 (nomen nudum), thereafter (1880b: 218) also accompanied by a description. Recorded by MolluscaBase (2018) as a synonym of Steromphala umbilicaris (Linnaeus, 1758) .
