Type locality. Described from coasts of Africa (Tunisia).

Remarks. Recorded by MolluscaBase (2018) as a synonym of Cerithium vulgatum Bruguière, 1792 . However, Cecalupo et al. (2008), Evangelisti et al. (2016) and Garilli et al. (2017) considered it as a distinct species, a position that we share.
