Type material. MCZR –M–16053 —2 sh “ Acteon candidulus, Monts. n. sp. Bengasi!”.
Type locality. Described from coasts of Cirenaica (Libya).
Remarks. Smriglio & Mariottini (1996: 189, 191; 190, figs 17a–18b) and Oliverio & Tringali (2001: 127; 124, fig. 4; 125, fig. 11) already examined the couple of very worn shells that constitute the type material kept in the Monterosato collection. Both works considered Acteon candidulus a junior synonym of Acteon tornatilis
(Linnaeus, 1758). Subsequently figured (1917, fig. 17) Recorded by MolluscaBase (2018) as a synonym of Acteon tornatilis (Linnaeus, 1758) .
