Type locality. Palermo (Sicily). Described also from Balearic Islands, Algiers and Bona (Algeria), Messina (Sicily), Napoli (Italy) and Lipari Is.
Remarks. Based in part on Clathurella philberti Michaud, 1829, as misidentified by B.D.D. (1883). Paralectotypes also in MNHN (figured B.D.D. specimens) and HUJ (Coen collection). Recorded by MolluscaBase (2018) as Raphitoma contigua (Monterosato, 1884) .
