Type locality. Described from Corsica (France) , Sardinia, Palermo to San Vito lo Capo (Sicily) and Dalmatia (Croatia) .

Remarks. Name proposed to distinguish Pleurotoma volutella Valenciennes in Kiener, 1883 sensu auctores, considered as a distinct species. The specimen MCZR–M–16704, labeled by Tiberi, was figured as “ holotype ” by Pusateri & Giannuzzi-Savelli (2008: 123, fig. 15), which is not a valid designation of lectotype (ICZN, 1999: art.

74.6). Recorded by MolluscaBase (2018) as Raphitoma erronea (Monterosato, 1884) .
