Ecology.
In coral reef habitats where it feeds on the octocoral Sinularia sp. Depth 5-18 m.
Distribution.
Widespread across the Indo-Pacific including Mozambique ( TibiriƧƔ et al. 2017), South Africa (Fraser 2001), the Red Sea (Koretz 2005), Hong Kong, New Caledonia, Australia, Marshall Islands (Rudman 1991), Japan (Ono 2004), Tanzania, Philippines, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea (Gosliner et al. 2008). Documented from both Andaman and Gulf waters of Thailand by Chavanich et al. (2013).
