Material examined.
One specimen 26 mm, TW; two specimens 31-39 mm, SWP; two specimens 18-25 mm, HF.
Ecology.
Abundant in coral reef habitats, particularly at the numerous coral reef restoration sites at Koh Tao and at rocky pinnacle sites nearshore and offshore. Depth 2-30 m.
Distribution.
Widespread across the Indo-Pacific including Mozambique ( TibiriƧƔ et al. 2017), India (Sreeraj et al. 2012), Maldives (Yonow 1994), Myanmar (Sanpanich and Duangdee 2019), Papua New Guinea (Baine and Harasti 2007), South Africa, Tanzania, Indonesia, Australia, Japan, Hawaii (Gosliner 1987), Oman, Seychelles, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Fiji (Gosliner et al. 2008) and documented from both Andaman and Gulf waters of Thailand by Chavanich et al. (2013).
