Diagnosis. Forewing length 11–16 mm. Both sexes are somewhat similar to the female of Somena scintillans, but the forewing is paler, crossed by two distinct, whitish median lines. Male genitalia (Fig. 30): Tegumen broad; uncus short, acute, with a rugose protrusion at ventral part; valva bifid, the dorsal arm short, the ventral arm long. Female genitalia (Fig. 44): Papilla analis small; ostium V-shaped; sterigma bilobed, M-like; ductus cylindrical, sclerotized at base; signum with a bicornute process.
Material examined. 13, Nanling National Nature Reserve, Guangdong, 2.V.2006; 23, 1Ƥ, same locality, 18.XI.2008.
Distribution. China (Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Shanxi, Taiwan), Burma, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia.
Remarks. The species is often confused with Somena scintillans due to the similarity of superficial characters, but the male genitalia of both species are different; the latter can be easily distinguished by a broad and weakly bifid uncus.
