Material examined. PHILIPPINES: LUZON: Aurora, Sierra Madre, XII.2014, 1 ♂ (MSVI); Ilocos, Pagudpud , VI .2016 1 ♂ (MSVI); Isabela, Dindin, VIII.2014, 1 ♂ 1♀ (MSVI) ; MINDANAO: Surigao, Tandag, Sigaboy, IX.2017, 2 ♀ (MSVI); Zamboanga, IV.2014, 1 ♂ (MSVI) .

Distribution. Philippine Islands: Luzon*, Mindanao*, Panay (Saito 2009).

Notes. The specific attribution of the specimens is confirmed by structural characters, specifically the sparsely punctate frons in the male and the long hairs on clypeus and supraclypeal area in the female. The male from Sierra Madre, however, presents clearly marked yellow spots on the vertex, above the antennal sockets, and on the pronotal collar; also, the male from Mindanao shows reduced spots on the vertex and above the antennal sockets. The presence or absence of these spots should therefore not be regarded as discriminatory between E. panaiensis and E. hauxwellii (Bingham) . It is possible that past records of E. hauxwellii from the Philippine Islands should be referred to E. panaiensis .
