Type species: Agallia pteridis Matsumura, 1905 by original designation.

Length: Males, 3.9–5.3mm; females, 4.0– 5.4mm.

Diagnosis. General color brown to dark brown. Vertex and base of face with large black maculae in male, paler in female, face with fulvous area in both sexes.

Head slightly wider than pronotum. Vertex slightly shorter medially than next to eye, posterior margin sinuate behind eyes. Face distinctly longer than broad. Ocelli closer to adjacent eyes than to each other. Anteclypeus narrow and long, projecting beyond genae, apex rounded. Forewings with three subapical cells, claval veins connected by cross vein. Hind femur macrosetal formula 2+1; hind tibial spinulation PD8, AD 7, AV 6. Hind basitarsus with one platellae on distal transverse row.

Male pygofer variable, with inner margin bearing dorsocaudal spinelike process or dorsoposterior corner extended as spine-like process, caudal region devoid of stout setae. Tenth segment with well developed anal collar process. Subgenital plates short and small with stout setae. Connective longer than wide. Aedeagal shaft elongate and curved, dorsal apodeme well developed, gonopore apical.

Distribution: Japan, Korea, Russia, China (Taiwan, Zhejiang, Henan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hainan).
